Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
How Does It Work ?
Unveiling The Mechanism Of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment that involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized room or chamber. The increased atmospheric pressure allows the lungs to take in more oxygen than would be possible at normal air pressure.
This excess oxygen is then transported through the bloodstream to various tissues and organs, promoting various therapeutic effects.

The Technology behind ( HBOT ) and Why ?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy isn’t just a cutting-edge breakthrough; it’s a tried-and-true method with over 300 years of success. It’s been the go-to solution for a myriad of health conditions, from combating serious infections to addressing air bubbles in your blood vessels. It’s also your best ally when dealing with wounds that resist healing due to diabetes or radiation injury.
Here’s the magic: In our hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber, the air pressure is cranked up to two to three times higher than what you’d experience with regular air pressure. This means your lungs can saturate your bloodstream with oxygen to a degree that’s impossible under normal conditions. As this oxygen-rich blood courses through your body, it becomes your ultimate weapon in the battle against bacteria and an amplifier for the release of growth factors and stem cells – the superheroes of the healing process.

"Welcome to our Q&A Section! Here, we've compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our HBOT. If you have a question that isn't covered here, feel free to reach out to our team for personal assistance.
HBOT, or Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to give its full name, is a simple procedure that consists of entering a HBOT chamber and experiencing an increase in pressure to below sea level.
The increase in oxygen provided by HBOT is enough to help the body’s innate ability to heal and regenerate faster than allowing the process to happen naturally.
HBOT can also help with a wide range of medical conditions, easing or lessening symptoms for patients and sufferers worldwide.
Every day an average adult consumes 2kg of food, 1 litre of water and almost 550 litres of oxygen. 90% of our daily energy comes from oxygen and the rest food and water. The human brain uses 25% of the oxygen we breathe alone.
Oxygen is what contracts our muscles, repairs our cells, feeds our brains and even calms our nerves, it is also our chief cleansing tool. Every day our body burns off some seven hundred billion old cells. These old cells are toxic and must be removed from our system, if there is low oxygen in the body it struggles to do so and can lead to disease, infection and tissue destruction.
When the chamber is pressurised, you may feel pressure changes in your ears, much like when you are on a plane or at a high elevation. You can relieve that feeling by yawning or swallowing. Other than ear pressure you should no experience any other unusual sensations.
The pressure forces oxygen into the plasma fluid and lymph allowing the oxygen to seep easily through any restricted areas caused by swelling, inflammation or injury. Under normal circumstances the red blood cells would block the blood vessel and the area would be starved of oxygen thus causing cell and tissue deterioration.
This is one of those questions which has so many variables and answers depending on your lifestyle and what you are hoping to achieve. No two people are the same so invariably their results may differ.
However from experience we know that Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy makes many people feel invigorated and improves their general wellbeing, and it can greatly compliment other therapies and treatment regimes.
Again there are many variables, and we would suggest all the time you are seeing improvements it is wise to continue your therapy. As a guide, the ‘gold standard’ is 40 hours of therapy. It is however better for you to judge based on your own results and improvement.
Oxygen Toxicity is not a problem at pressures below 1.5 ATA. However there are regular breaks are planned during the session to reduce the risk of oxygen toxicity.
We recommend loose cotton clothing as you are expected to be inside the chamber for at least one hour.
No mobile phones or electronic devices are not allowed inside the chambers.
While hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) can be beneficial for a variety of medical conditions, there are certain patients who may not be suitable candidates for this treatment. Some general categories of patients who may not be suitable candidates for hyperbaric oxygen therapy include:
- Uncontrolled Respiratory Conditions : Patients with severe respiratory conditions, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or asthma, may not tolerate the increased oxygen levels and pressure associated with HBOT.
- Untreated Pneumothorax : Individuals with an untreated pneumothorax (collapsed lung) should avoid hyperbaric oxygen therapy, as the increased pressure could exacerbate the condition.
- Ear Barotrauma or Perforation : Patients with current ear barotrauma or a perforated eardrum may experience discomfort or further injury during HBOT.
- Seizure Disorders : Individuals with a history of seizures or those with uncontrolled seizure disorders may be at an increased risk of experiencing seizures during or after hyperbaric treatments.
- Claustrophobia : Patients who are extremely claustrophobic may find the confined space of the hyperbaric chamber distressing, making the treatment impractical for them.
- Pregnancy : Pregnant women are generally advised to avoid hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
- History of Thoracic Surgery : Individuals with a recent history of thoracic (chest) surgery may have air trapped in the chest cavity, which could expand and cause harm during hyperbaric conditions.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is generally considered safe for individuals with colds. However, there are a few considerations to keep in mind: If the symptoms of the cold are mild and not causing significant respiratory or ear-related issues, HBOT may proceed with caution. However, if the cold is severe or accompanied by complications, the healthcare provider may decide to postpone or modify the hyperbaric treatment.
If the cold is accompanied by respiratory symptoms such as coughing, congestion, or difficulty breathing, it’s important to assess the severity of these symptoms. Patients with severe respiratory conditions may not tolerate the increased oxygen levels and pressure associated with HBOT.
If the cold is causing ear congestion or issues with the middle ear, patients may experience discomfort during HBOT. Individuals with ear barotrauma or a perforated eardrum should generally avoid hyperbaric therapy.
Patients with a cold may find the experience of being in a hyperbaric chamber less comfortable due to nasal congestion, sinus pressure, or other cold-related symptoms. It’s essential to ensure that the patient can comfortably tolerate the conditions inside the chamber.
